South Oakland Warming Center
Eleven local churches come together every winter to form the South Oakland Warming Center, which was started for the sole purpose of preventing people from freezing to death on the streets. Host churches provide a hot meal, a warm safe place to sleep, breakfast and a sack lunch for any adult in need of a place to stay.
Genesis and Cana Lutheran Church will be hosting the South Oakland Warming Center from Sunday, January 29th through Friday, February 10th in the Genesis building. To volunteer to provide a meal or to be an overnight host, sign up on the boards in the lobby at Genesis.
